This holiday season, we partnered with the Moody Mixologist to bring you our take on a Tom & Jerry, a classic holiday cocktail known for its warming spices and creamy texture. It all starts with a silky egg batter made with rich, flavorful Pete & Gerry's Pasture Raised eggs, blended with aged rum or brandy and hot milk for a festive treat worth savoring.
Instructions
Make the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, add the egg whites and cream of tartar. Whip until stiff peaks form.
- In a separate medium bowl, beat together the egg yolks, sugar, spices, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Gently mix the egg yolk mixture into the egg whites, one third at a time, until incorporated. Don’t overmix.
- Cover and refrigerate any extra batter for up to 3 days.
Build the Cocktail
- Fill your mugs with boiling water to warm them, then discard the water before building the drink.
- Add the rum or brandy, Tom & Jerry batter, and hot milk to each warmed mug.
- Stir until the batter dissolves and the drink becomes smooth and creamy.
- Finish with freshly grated nutmeg, garnish (and stir) with a cinnamon stick, and enjoy!
