Some burgers are just built for a fried egg. The smoky char from the grill and the rich yolk running down the side make for the kind of meal that demands extra napkins. Pete & Gerry’s Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs bring richness, flavor, and an easy boost of protein that turns a backyard burger into something memorable. Cooking the eggs in a cast iron skillet right on the grill keeps everything outdoors and makes this an easy summer dinner worth repeating.
Instructions
-
Prepare the Burgers
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form into patties slightly wider than the buns. Press a shallow indentation into the center of each patty with your thumb to help prevent puffing.
Season both sides with salt and pepper.
-
Grill the Burgers
Place patties directly on the grill grates and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your preferred doneness.
If using cheese, add during the final minute of cooking and close the grill lid to melt.
Transfer burgers to a plate and let rest briefly.
-
Fry the Eggs on the Grill
While the burgers rest, place a cast iron skillet directly on the grill grates and allow it to heat.
Add butter or oil to the skillet, then crack in the Pete & Gerry’s Eggs.
Cook until whites are set and edges are lightly crisped. For over-easy eggs, gently flip and cook for 20–30 seconds more.
-
Assemble
Place burgers on toasted buns and top each with a fried egg and your favorite toppings.
Serve immediately while the yolk is warm and ready to run.
