Meet Pete & Gerry's Pasture-Raised Eggs

By Pete & Gerry's Family Farm Team

Pete & Gerry's Pasture-Raised Eggs come from hens with 108 square feet of outdoor pasture each, raised to Certified Humane® Pasture Raised standards on family farms across the country. Crack into a dozen and you'll find a treasure trove of rich golden yolks, substantial egg whites, and sturdy shells, each a reflection of the standards every farm in our network follows. Our girls roam on expansive green pastures, with room to forage, explore, and socialize to their hearts' delight.

Are Pasture-Raised Eggs a Better Choice?

Pasture-raised standards are built around outdoor space, natural behaviors, and humane care. The benefits show up across the board: for the hens, for the eggs, and for the family farms that raise them.

Healthy Hens

Our pasture-raised eggs come from hens living on family farms that offer hands-on care to each member of the flock. We believe our eggs are better when flocks have regular access to the outdoors where they can exhibit natural hen behaviors like perching, dust bathing, socializing, foraging for juicy worms, and soaking up the sunshine. With 108 spacious square feet (per hen!) to spread their wings, our girls have the room to live the way hens are meant to.

Healthy Eggs

Each Pete & Gerry's pasture-raised egg delivers 6 grams of high-quality protein, plus key nutrients including folate, choline, and selenium. Choline supports healthy cell development and brain function and is a nutrient that's particularly recognized for its role in fetal development.

A Penn State University study found that hens with access to outdoor pastures produced eggs with significantly more omega-3 fatty acids than eggs from caged hens. Additional research has linked outdoor access to higher levels of vitamin D vs. eggs from hens raised entirely indoors.

The difference can often be seen in the yolk. When hens forage on fresh plants and greens, naturally occurring pigments called carotenoids show up in the eggs they lay. Darker yolks are common in eggs from flocks with real access to pasture.

Healthy Planet

As a Certified B Corporation, Pete & Gerry's meets verified third-party standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. That commitment shows up in how we partner with our family farms and how we run our business.
