Category Strategy Analyst

The Category Strategy Analyst will develop and maintain actionable category management tools, support key customer meetings, and drive thought leadership by making recommendations on how to improve category performance and grow market share.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, leverage, and maintain excel-based reporting to track KPIs and support sales efforts.
  • Analyze syndicated data including IRI, Nielsen, and SPINS into actionable insights.
  • Translate category and shopper insights into actionable customer opportunities.
  • Develop and support fact-based presentations to present to retail customers such as category reviews, new item introductions, distribution opportunities, and achieving shelving and pricing objectives.
  • Drive a category first approach by providing strategic and tactical recommendations to customer and field sales team on the category aisle, distribution, shelving, assortment, merchandising, and pricing to improve category performance.
  • Identify merchandising and assortment opportunities to grow the Category and optimize shopability: recommend adjacencies, create gold standards, determine SKU Priority rankings, and track share of shelf.
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and marketing to develop and align on clear communication and plans.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years in category management/insights/analytics within the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Excellent knowledge of syndicated data and applications including IRI, Nielsen, SPINS and Consumer Panel Data
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate those insights to field sales
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (including formulas, pivot tables and graphs) and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and able to drive sales while working independently
  • Travel up to 20%
