Two new family farms join the Pete & Gerry's family Marlin Wadel produced eggs twenty years ago in an old-fashioned poultry barn on his farm in Wolcott VT until the market for his eggs dried up. Brian and Phil Ward milked cows on their family's farm in Monroe NH since high school but were finding it harder and harder to make any money. Both farms now enjoy a stable income producing cage-free eggs for our Nellie's Nest brand. more

Heirloom Meals PBS Thanksgiving Special We were very pleased to sponsor the "Heirloom Meals Thanksgiving Special" aired on PBS stations across the country. National Public Radio personality Carole Murko interviewed people from different backgrounds to learn what makes Thanksgiving special to them. It featured recipes, heartwarming stories and food memories of this unique American holiday.

Mohegan Sun Winefest On January 28 & 29, 2012, we will be participating in the Mohegan Sun Winefest '12 Grand Tasting. The Grand Tasting features beer, wine, specialty spirits and delectable dishes with something for everyone. Wine and beer enthusiasts can select from over 1,000 brands or enjoy tastings of specialty sponsor spirits. Food enthusiasts can sample signature dishes from the region's most highly rated restaurants.
We will be serving a special "Custard for a Cause" prepared by the Mohegan Sun Executive Pastry Chef on Saturday and Sunday with all proceeds going to the event charities (Channel 3 Kids Camp, a summer camp for kids with disabilities, and the American Diabetes Association).

Life is Good Festival Pete & Gerry's teamed up with Barowsky's Organic Bakery andApplegate Farms to feed the staff and public at this year's Life is Good Festival in September.
We served more than 2400 all-organic meals to the festival staff. We also served all-organic food to the public and raised almost $6000 for the Life is Good Kids Foundation. more

2011 NH Reach the Beach Relay Race September 16, 2011 We sponsored two teams in this year's NH Reach the Beach relay race in September-Pete & Gerry's Organic Chicks and The Racing Roosters. Both teams finished very well.
As sustainability sponsor of the race, we helped divert several tons of plastic, glass, aluminum and cardboard to recycling. We also donated eggs to help feed competitors, spectators and staff at eight transition areas. more

Eggs are a good source of lutein Scientists at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University recently discovered that lutein in egg yolks is absorbed more effectively than that in spinach, possibly because the yolks' fat helps our bodies process the antioxidant much better. more

Mini Cheddar Quiche Bites These yummy little bites are great for snacking or a quick breakfast on the run. They're full of organic goodness, and your kids will love them. Leftovers are good cold or reheated briefly in the oven or microwave.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 12 to 15 minutes Makes: 24 mini-quiches
Ingredients: 4 Pete & Gerry's Organic Eggs 1/4 to ½ cup Edward & Sons organic panko or regular bread crumbs 1/3 cup Stonyfield Farm organic half-and-half 1/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1-1/4 cups Neighborly Farms shredded cheddar cheese (5 oz.)
Directions: - Heat oven to 350°F. Generously spray 24 mini-muffin cups with cooking spray. Pat 1/2 to 1 teaspoon crumbs in the bottom of each muffin cup. Tap muffin pan to lightly coat sides of each muffin cup.
- Beat eggs, half-and-half, salt and pepper in medium bowl until blended. Add cheese; mix well. Spoon evenly into mini-muffin cups, about 1 tablespoon each.
- Bake in 350°F oven until just set, 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on rack 5 minutes. Loosen quiches from sides of muffin cups with a thin knife. Remove from cups; serve warm.
For added flavor, add 1/3 to 1/2 cup Applegate Farms organic cooked crumbled bacon, sausage or chopped ham with cheese. *You can find all the ingredients at your local supermarket or natural foods store.
