Our Family Farmers

With the help of our loyal customers we have grown over the years, and we have had to seek the help of other farmers to help keep up with the demand! Fortunately, we've been able to find some great farmers in the area around us. Thank you for supporting our family farm, and thank you for supporting the family farms that work with us!

The Rolfe Family Farm

Dave and Kelly Rolfe celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in August 2007, and they are living out their dream to move to the Belmont, New Hampshire area and farm and raise chickens. Dave and Kelly have five sons, and one daughter. Their names are, Ben, Jon, Olivia, Stephen, Mackenzie, and Tyler. And yes, the first three were named after characters on the Waltons! Ben and his wife Jill have an 18 month old named Zack, who loves to help his Pepe Dave with the "Bok-Boks." Jon is married to Caroline, Olivia's boyfriend is named Cole, and the Rolfe's son Stephen is serving in the Marine Corps. Mackenzie (Mac), and Tyler are the two that help raise the chickens with their parents.

The Vose Family Farm

Ernie Vose grew up on a dairy/poultry farm in Peterboro. From the 8th grade on his chores were to take care of the family's 3000 chickens, eggs and broilers. Ernie's family wholesaled the eggs and sold them at the farm along with frozen broilers. In 1960 Ernie went to UNH and studied animal husbandry with the hope that he might not have to take care of another chicken again. In 1977 he and his wife Susan bought their farm in Walpole (poultry !) After 28 years of raising hatching eggs for meat type chickens and doing research work for Hubbard Farms, Ernie changed to producing organic table eggs for Pete and Gerry's Organics. It has been a whole new learning experience; it takes a whole different management approach with these egg type birds. They are the friendliest birds he has ever worked with, and he enjoys going to work in the morning!

The Thorton Brother's Farm

Charlie and Sher Thorton know a thing or two about chickens. The two brothers built their first chicken barn in 1961, and they've been taking care of our hens for the last six years. Their farm sits on 240 acres near the Androscoggin River in Bryant Pond Maine. The Thortons do a great job, and along with their man Steve, they spend a lot of time with the hens. In fact, they spend so much time with the hens, they are always calm around people, and their clucking has a very distinct Maine accent.
