Strolling with the Heifers

The Strolling of the Heifers in Brattleboro, Vermont is a delightful event. It's an old-fashioned family affair with lots of wonderful animals, local food and games. In addition to the heifers, the parade includes marching bands, homemade floats, antique tractors, clowns and politicians.
We teamed up with King Arthur Flour to sponsor the Great Vermont Pro-Am Bread Baking Contest on Friday evening, and our own Gerry was one of the judges. Gerry's wife, Carol, greeted visitors to our table with coupons and samples of our organic eggs.
On Saturday morning, we held another Big Organic Breakfast Bar on the Brattleboro Common. We served all-organic breakfast sandwiches made with Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs, Vermont Bread Company organic English muffins, Applegate Farms Organic Bacon and Neighborly Farms organic cheese. We even used Marconi organic canola oil for cooking.
We also served Dean's Beans organic coffee with Stonyfield Farm organic milk. All proceeds went to the Strolling of the Heifers Microloan Fund.
This was our first year at the Stroll and we'll definitely be back again next year.
Oarganic Fuel™ at the Head of the Charles Regatta
For the first time at Boston's Head of the Charles Regatta, athletes and spectators got a nutritious, all-organic breakfast at the Big Organic Breakfast Bar - all while supporting an innovative Boston-area nonprofit, The Carrot Project.
We served breakfast sandwiches made with Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs, Barowskys Organic English Muffins, Applegate Farms Organic Bacon and Neighborly Farms Organic Cheese plus Green Mountain organic free-trade coffee. All ingredients were certified organic. We also gave out 9000 samples of Stonyfield Farm Organic yogurt.
Two professional chefs prepared the food and The Carrot Project served customers in return for a donation to their organization. We raised more than $3200 for this deserving group.
The Carrot Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating financing solutions for small- and midsized farms, limited-resource farms, and those using ecologically sound practices. Their unique program is designed to incubate and establish alternative financing programs in combination with business technical assistance.
The Head of the Charles Regatta is the world's largest rowing event. It attracts almost 3,000 athletes and over 200,000 spectators, making it one of Boston's three largest annual events. Winding past MIT and Harvard, the Regatta draws university and college rowing teams from around the world.
